The Flagship Cabernet Franc - Stellenbosch Vineyards (6/case) (R459/BOTTLE)
Nature is a flckle mistress. She will tell you a direct lie if she can. But, like most elemental forces, on the rare occasions when she smiles on you, magic happens. We can't predict when nature will favour us with these rare glimpses of perfection, but we can recognise and treat these wines with the respect that true greatness deserves. This is The Flagship.
The vineyards
The grapes were handpicked from premium vineyards situated in the Stellenbosch and Darling region. It was specifically selected for its unique terroir with intense fruit and body.
The winemaking
The grapes were harvested in March 2010 and fermentation took place within stainless steel tanks for 10 days. Cold soaking followed for three days prior fermentation and for three days post maturation, on the skins after fermentation was allowed. Aged for 42 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, of which 70% were first fill and 30% were second fill, the wine was lightly filtered before bottling.
